“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” — John 15:13
“God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” — Romans 5:8
This was no small gesture, nor an act compelled. It was undertaken with full knowledge of its cost. In the garden our sin was committed and the wager was death.
If one seeks the reason, Scripture gives it in terms of love, “The Son of God… loved me, and gave himself for me.” — Galatians 2:20
Whether a man receives this truth, or sets it aside, is his own decision. But it is no light matter and deserves more consideration than declaring Christianity as an improbable Jewish religion.
"And I know you feel ashamed
But the cross was worth the pain
Because I just can't bear the thought
of losing you"
