I dont think its romanticism or Hollywood, or dumb hormones, young people and teens have always been seen as heroes or underdogs, doing chaotic and reckless shit because they have that youthful vigor, fighting against the bitter and old husks of the adults in power. It might seem overdramatic and immature, but those emotions of being in your teens and twenties are fleeting. Thats why teen love is so brutal, because at that age everything that happens to you feels larger than life, almost like urgency and fate combining making it feel larger than life, like theres a catharsis and something worth fighting for.

Or I could have some repressed main character syndrome and maybe coping with the grass is greener on the other side.

I'm mentally stuck in the early 2000s or have developed sum schizo simulacrum, but every zoomer has that SSRI stare

Teens and young adults in the past used to be cooler, everything is lame and gay now

Yes. This is an often overlooked aspect of the teenlovepill. Some emotions dull with age, so even if you ascended later in life with a virgin (which is impossible, but let's say hipothetically) you would still have missed out on a key aspect of life that you can never experience. There's so many factors and layers to the teenlovepill, it's brutal, since each of them alone would be bad on its own. If you missed out on teen love, you might as well be dead.
