As explained in my previous post, with handhelds you can never be too powerful or else your battery life will suffer. Thus, Nintendo really cannot even get to PS4 levels anytime soon.
Which is a shame. Wii U during the time of its release was an impressive system in terms of power. There were so many absolutely amazing looking games.
Imagine a truly PS4/Xbox one level Mario game and how good it would look.
Instead Nintendo is permanently doomed to be limited to hybrid handhelds and unfortunately I can't blame them. The switch is massively successful. It'd be stupid to abandon it.
It's unfortunate, because I don't think the switch/switch 2 can exceed at either being a good console or handheld.
Console wise it's just too weak. Most switch games look extremely outdated and perform poorly. From the look of Mario Kart 9 it seems switch 2 will only be a minor update graphically. It really can't be much because of the second issue
Which is that as a handheld switch barely passes. 3-4 battery life. (Switch mini is 3 hours)
5 with oiled. Switch 2 will most likely be worse for the first few years. Basically, switch can neither be a great handheld or a great console.
It's the only Nintendo console I'd truly consider mediocre due to the abundance of hardware flaws. Hopefully switch 2 is better but don't count on it
