If you’re from a poor nation, you don’t exist to the average first worlder: even when their bubble is burst and are forced to confront your existence, they feel grateful they weren’t born there, like you’re a problem they don’t have to worry. They can’t imagine that we’re the majority of humanity, that we have more to offer than our lack of wealth, and we share the same planet as them.

These people can afford to travel the world, but they will still be ignorant of how 90% of the world lives.

Honestly as a first worlder, this is true. And I do this subconsciously without thinking about it and realize it’s shitty.

Yes we don’t think about you often and when we do it’s just pity.

It’s shitty to think like that so I’m gonna try to do better with this. However…

I think every country should be full of patriots who want to make it the best version of it that it can be, and to be perfectly fair a lot of people from these countries aren’t exactly trying to improve it. If own citizens don’t even care about bettering your country then why should we? If one of these countries ends up succeeding then I’ll support it but YOU are accountable for the state of your country. Not us.

I’m ALWAYS going to put my country first above anything else. I suggest you third world countries to do the same.

I'm not sure if this is exactly what you meant, but I always thought that actual discussions and acknowledgement of just how much poorer thirdworlders are than firstworlders were much fewer and less common than they should be. Just look at all the current debates about economic and income differences between Europe and the US, which I myself posted about, and its implications, and then look at how little people talk about the actual, hard salary and income differences between the rich and poor parts of the world.
