This is Afghanistan's population by year..

1980: 12,487,000
1990: 10,695,000 (a lot of refugees like to Pakistan)

2000: 19,543,000 (refugees came back + very high birthrate and fast falling deathrate)
2010: 28,190,000

2020: 38,972,000

You see how if the Soviets had seized it and held it in the 1980's, how Afghanistan was growing so much, so really valuable for the number of people. The US takeover of Afghanistan in 2001 wasn't very sustainable, because its too hard for the USA to resupply and reinforce Afghanistan. But the Soviet Union was right bordering Afghanistan.

Those Central Asian countries colored on this map were part of the Soviet Union.

The Russians very long term strategy is to keep building this Eurasian superpower. So taking Afghanistan would have allowed them down the road to work on taking over Iran and Pakistan. Back in the 1970's both Iran and Pakistan were allied with the USA.

Its amazing they were able to fight the Red Army off. Because the 1980's Soviet army was very, very large with state of the art equipment for that time.

no one has learned the lessons from vietnam

modern wars just turn into a 20 year guerrilla warfare mess until the occupier gives up and leaves

20 trillion spent and nothing achieved

I was there 1984

The UV aiming on those Stinger missiles changed the game

Toppling local elites is the easy part.
Getting the natives to eat, shit, walk, quack, and marry like the invaders is the hard part. Especially if the soldiers are 17 year old racist kids who occasionally rape a child and shoot her.

When you refuse to give in and fight you'll receive your reward (controlling your territory) without answering to anybody as opposed to nations dancing to the kike's tune.

Nothing can beat the spirit of indo iranian people, no amount of social imperialism can crush them.

That's why guerrilla warfare is the best way to fight against imperialism, we should set up maoist guerrilla groups in thr countryside to btfo sexhaver society

I used to advocate that, but I don't think the love of homeland in sub 8 men can be overcome by the blackpill. To avoid racecoping, I switched to arguing for a micronation on virgin land

Soviets had gone soft by the 1980s. If they still had a government similar to that of Stalin's they would've easily won the war.
