Some people think it plays more like a game suited for the Wario character.
Nintendo brought it back out of laziness. Whenever they went from the Wii to Wii u they struggled to develop a game like Super Mario Galaxy which is why they've now opted to make sandbox collectathons.
Even then they're struggling with development. Nintendo is utterly incompetent.
There's no cohesion anymore. The art style is whacky and uneven for the sake of it. It looks bad and overly western. They're also forcing in trends like a skill tree. Really shows you how westernized Nintendo has become.
