Though the girl initially resisted, Shibuya gradually ground down her resistance. After the crime, Shibuya tried to keep the adolescent quiet by telling her, 'If you tell this story to other people or the police, I won't be able to help you.’ He then told her to come back for additional Alien Resistance sessions which lasted for 2 months.

In December, he pulled the same trick again on another teenager Chiaki brought hime, telling her "the bottom line is that you will soon die. You will be taken away by aliens. To be saved we must become a couple.” In both instances, Chiaki assisted Shibuya in convincing the girls of the existence of extraterrestrials. Thankfully, the second girl spoke to her family about the situation, who in turn contacted the police. In court, Shibuya stated: "Why do I believe in aliens and UFOs? It's because I’ve met an alien before. I was told that there was a plan to reduce the world's population and that Japanese women were being targeted. I was told the only way to save them from aliens was to have relations with them.” He denied the charges against him, saying he “Shibuya was quoted as denying this claim, saying “I only told people what appeared in my dreams."
