Taking a step back, is everybody as bad as I think they are?

I've been through some shit in my life. 100% because of my own mistakes and weirdness, but shit happened nonetheless.

For a long time now I've been very cynical. So much so that I think that everybody is manipulative, gossipy, mean and ruthless, with only rare exceptions.

Now, I do have moments of weakness when I doubt myself, like now. But I realize this is just my own weakness hoping for a better world. I realize that the world is actually as bad as I imagine it, if not much worse.

We live in a brutal jungle, don't we? There's no animal on earth as cruel as man, and of all, man is cruelest to his own kind.

Didn't jesus say do not love this world or anything it. I think it's good people fault for being too hedonistic. I mean. Bad people are fucked anyway according to the Abrahamic religions but some good people get fucked too for being into this crap.

I don’t think compassion is as rare as you think.
We develop generalizations in our heads that are heavily skewed by our own experiences. It sounds like people have been shitty to you, and that sucks. But empathy is still a very human trait, and there are a lot of people out there with it.
