I always thought it was wierd how people claim you cannot love someone else unless you love yourself, yet if people hated you throughout your life, it will be tough to love yourself. Nonetheless I agree, you cannot love yourself without validation from others, we're social creatures and it's extreme cope when people claim to not care what others think of them.
