There is a common misconception that people who struggle emerge as stronger individuals from their hardship, but the opposite is often true. Poverty, bullying, narcissistic parents, broken homes just fuck people up for life and stunt their natural development. I was the scapegoat in my family, and my brother was treated much better by my dad, but even he has all sorts of mental problems because of the impoverished, chaotic household we grew up in. He doesn't even want to reproduce because he notices all the mental illness in our family, in particular, my dad, with severe anger issues. This was a person who was treated infinitely better than I was. I was bullied as a kid and it harmed me for life. Every single person I know who was bullied is also damaged goods.
Upper-class white people with two parents who never suffer and face zero hardships end up turning out the best. The privileged who have only known positive reinforcement make the best leaders, partners, and parents. All of the white easy-lifers I know just cruise through life on autopilot, happy as a clam. They lose their virginity young and get to experience teen love. They have no trouble forming relationships and networking to get jobs. They are socially adept so they can easily navigate the hierarchies in the workplace.
Trauma doesn't make you stronger. It fucks up any potential you might've had.
"For to every one who has will more be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who has not, even what he has will be taken away."
