Looks good yadayada but where's the fuckin achievement system?. I barely played the 1st switch for this reason. Why would I buy a 3rd party game on switch 2 + pay for online over the ps5 which has trophies. Why would I even replay a game on switch 2 over a platform that has the incentives of trophies.

When you mention this to nintencucks they get all defensive but its a legit reason for many to not buy the same game available on other platforms. We've had trophies/achievements since the ps3 era, its hardwired into our brains at this point to have an achievement system. I know its arbitrary but subconsciously I ain't replaying no nintendo game without trophies and maybe won't even bother to 100%, collect all bananas or some shit.

All these fancy announcements they made yet all I could think was ffs just give us some achievement system an ill buy most of this shit. I'd happily buy ur baby games if theres some achievements. I had no motivation to do those boring arse shrines in BOTW, a trophy changes that because its an incentive at the end of the day, a carrot to dangle to make you do stuff you otherwise wouldn't in a game. I platinumed Rayman Origins on Vita, completed all the speed trials, without trophies I wouldn't have bothered, this is the difference. This is the 1 feature I gave a fuck about from Nintendo, fuck the party chat, what goods that as a loser in life :whatfeels: .

Glad im not the only one who is addicted to achievements

an the thing is, I don't even platinum most games but just having them there is an assurance because without them its a 1 an done. I had both switch lite and switch OLED, barely played it because I felt fuckin lost without trophies, not to mention how ugly those games looked on that piss weak hardware. The 1st thing I do when I buy a game is look at the trophies and approach the game accordingly to ensure I do everything possible.

Most times I fail to do everything possible unless its Assassins Creed or something but the fact that trophies are there is reassuring, knowing my efforts amount to some incentive, however arbitrary that may seem. I had mario kart 8, fire emblem amongst others on switch an I didn't have a fuckin clue what value those game were given me. Trophies at least give me some outline of how to approach a game, what goals to aim for.

I would never buy assassins creed on switch 2 now, whats the point when I can just buy those games on ps5 much cheaper with trophies. This applies to any 3rd party game on switch, they've really fucked it for me once again by not including some form of trophy system.

Achievements are stupid and very cancerous, people are not playing games for fun but to finish those arbitrary achievements that nobody cares about.

I do achievements that are reasonable to do and gives me a goal while playing the game naturally

Going out of your way to complete games and get platinums is when it often gets ridiculous

Doesn’t the back of the cover of the games you buy tell you about the content and objectives? JFL

They also have booklets

idgaf abt achievements give me actually good games ffs

Going to pirate the shit out of it

I'm not gonna buy a 3rd party game for triple the price with no trophies. Nintendo are robbin bastards, I was considering pre-ordering a switch 2 but I hardly played the Switch OLED and the Lite. I prefer mature games not all baby games, there needs to be a balance.

Most games are a 1 an done regardless for me due to the length and my extensive backlog but I still prefer to have trophies. I presented this topic to the nintendo community on reddit and the way they all got defensive was pathetic. Some of us actually prefer to have trophies to give us some incentive.

I get that a hobby shouldn't require arbitrary validation but they serve as a barometer for progression, with the end goal being either platinum or finishing the game. So now its just a 1 an done regardless with no incentive for me to play further than the credits.

I only really care about seeing my hours played, I'm glad ps5 added that feature.
