The first half is kind of boring slice of life stuff, but it’s necessary for the time travel second half. I really like it, but me suggesting to watch 12 eps of a show you hate is stupid
It doesn’t really have the mysterious vibe monster has and monster is longer and more uneventful but its vibe makes it giga interesting
Was ready for the best story of my life and I finished it and thought I missed half the episodes like a 5/10 show

Yep, its watchable once but it is a simple time travel plot. People just like it because they like to feel intellectual like watching evangelion. Its more enjoyable when you are young and dumb and trying to prove yourself.
I think Stein's gate is overrated but @hghcel's taste in anime hasn't progressed past middle school.

It has nothing to do with IQ. Steins;Gate is a really good thriller, bears elements of slice-of-life, and has wholesome characters with great character and interpersonal relationship developments.
Conversely, people who sing praise of Monster tend to be obnoxiously pretentious pricks.
True Stein gate needs more shonen battles, crazy big bad and epic final battle. How can it be a slice of life if no life gets sliced?

I think elfen lied is pretty bad (just edgy gore overload) and claymore is mediocre. I liked steins gate and monster better. Monster is slow paced and has a lot of filler like episodes but main plot was interesting to me, and steins gate takes time to get going.
I watched all of them really long time ago tho, so I can't remember the details just how I felt about them.
But I also don't think death note is as good as people here think nor code geass, they are both claymore tier for me. I am also not a big fan of aot, I actually dropped it early.
My fav animes at the time were: berserk (1987), monster, baccano, hajime no ippo and hxh I think.
Keep in mind, I watched around 150 animes when I kept a list on myanimelist, so not too many. I stopped watching in 2015.
