You know, there used to be a time where public signs of affection were not acceptable. Maybe, just maybe, it was because of that ? Because people knew that it makes some people uncomfortable ?
It is a bit of a stretch, but I can't help relating this to the current PC culture insanity. PC advocates and SJWs keep saying that it is wrong to offend or even just make someone uncomfortable, for instance by misgendering. If a woman reports a colleague to PR because "made her feel uncomfortable", the guy can get sacked.
And yet, public ostentatious displays of affection are totally ok, no matter how many men will tell it feels to them like a punch in the heart.
