When I was in middle school I loved playing Madden and NHL games on my Xbox 360 because they were exotic, unknown sports (no one plays American football or ice hockey in Spain except from some very small amateur clubs) and I remember I could spend all the afternoon playing match after match or the career mode where you create your player and all that sheit.
Ironically now I find sports simulators one of the worst genres in the videogame industry. Not only they're repetitive and low effort games (they barely innovate from year to year) but also they're filled with microtransactions, loot boxes and gambling elements. The last NBA game caused a massive shitstorm because the online mode was basically a casino, to get good players the only way was to buy loot boxes or play roulette (with real money of course) so even if you payed there was a big chance you didn't get the players you want.
Sports simulators hurt the videogame industry with anti-consumer practices that later affect the rest of videogame genres, because the consoomer is too stupid and keeps paying kek. It also doesn't help that the target of sports simulator games is Chads, normies and boomers who don't know shit about games but call themselves "gamers" just because they play Madden, NBA, FIFA or whatever sports game there is. I know people that bought a Playstation just to play FIFA and maybe Call of Duty. Pathetic.
