No. I get odd stares and double takes frequently though. In my old home town, I just chalked it up to being the only non-(pure)white person in the vicinity, but I still get these reactions now years after moving to a relatively "diverse" city. I don't know what to make of it.

Yes and no. In Canada, certain walking paths are full of older citizens, places like the parks most of the white people will smile, and acknowledge. Lots of brown people walk those same paths and they completely ignore everyone but other brown people.
Downtown no. Shopping areas no. But it's common for the most part. better looking people are acknowledged everywhere.

Americans smile at GOOD LOOKING people. Europeans are better looking on average, so this is why they report people being friendly to them when they travel to the US.

Also, there is a big difference between West coast and East coast people. People in the Northeast USA can be kind of friendly, even if you are ugly. People in California are super hateful towards non male model men.
