Sonic adventure 2 feels very rushed imo and the character models and gameplay are pretty trash. I think sonic adventure 1 was way better because you can explore more places and it has a way better vibe to the game overall.
As someone who didn't grow up with them I tried playing both 1 and 2 as an adult and didnt like either.
While I do enjoy both the gameplay and story, the non-Sonic levels drag down the quality for me.
SA1 spamdash needs to return
SA2 is actually my favourite Sonic game and my third favourite game of all time so I'm coming at this from a very different perspective!
I think it would be incorrect to judge SA or SA2 by any versions other than the Dreamcast originals.
I think it's a very hard case to make that SA2 was less polished than SA1.
I guess I'd say that 2 did less but did it better. To me it looks a lot more polished than 1.
That being said, they're fairly different games in many ways and so if you prefer the original then that's totally fine.

The OST is fire but you're absolutely right. They should've made a SA1 and SA2 remake instead of sonic x shadow generations
But I liked it though
