I remember hearing about soyjak.party or "the sharty" as its apparently called. I thought the idea of an alt-chan based around a wojak variant was silly enough, but my curiosity got the better of me and I had to check it out.
I lurked for about half an hour. None of the threads had any coherent discussions going on, it was 100 percent non-sequitur shitpost spam. All of the pics posted were either gigachad, chud or soyjak. It was an eerie feeling because it really seemed like every single post was generated by a bot, as in a pre-chatgpt bot. Yet apparently this isn't the case and it's a real community. It's also a pretty active site for an alt chan, especially these days since alt chans are pretty much all dead.
Makes me feel old because I just don't "get it". And I've used imageboards off and on since either late 2005 or early 2006. I was also a /b/tard from back in the day, but even on /b/ while there was a lot of meme spam (POOL'S CLOSED DUE TO AIDS, IT'S OVER 9000, FUCK YEAH SEAKING, DESU) there were threads where people had actual discussions, unlike on "the sharty". Of course /b/ these days is just porn spam, but that's besides the point.
Maybe there are legitimate thoughts being expressed on that site but the "layers of irony" are dialed up so high they're indecipherable to anyone who hasn't been terminally online and in specific niche communities for the past 5 years or whatever, and maybe I'm sounding like "who is this Four Chan"..but I just don't get it. Even the premise is weird. Soyjak, and really wojak variants in general, have been done to death.
