When it comes to parents who are shitty, many people will act as if parents are shitty depending on how much attention they give to the child, but that’s not even entirely true. Good parenting can sometimes be determined by who the parents are. For starters, what genes did they pass on? How much money are they providing the child? Where are they raising the child? What advice are they giving the child? These are the things that determine how a child’s life will turn out. Not the “they’re working really hard” bullshit narrative.

Depends on what kind of attention. Helicopter parenting can be bad.

My mother touched me in a no no way among other no no things and and my father was an alcoholic dead beat, then my mother became an alcoholic dead beat and my father became well adjusted, then they both got their shit together and now we all get along pretty well as adults, in fact I talk to both my parents every week now and have sunday dinner every month or so.
