If you are socially rejected, you have two options

1. Withdraw
2. Try again and risk rejection

So why exactly would evolution wire people to feel pain from social rejection? If you withdraw, your genes would get weeded out. It would actually make more sense to be persistent in reintegrating with the tribe in order to pass on your genes.

Because back in tribal times, if we did things that were socially unacceptable, we'd often get brutally beaten or even killed right then and there.

It's essentially the same reason we feel pain from touching fire. If we don't feel the pain, we won't change our behaviour, and it's the sort of behavior that could harm our reproductive capacity before we have a chance to spread our genes.

I suppose, it's a signal from the brain that we need FIND A SOLUTION QUICK otherwise we'll die. Humans are not designed to be able to survive alone in nature, we would die quickly either from starvation or getting eating alive by predators.

We survived bc we're highly social creatures, we help each other and even befriended other animals like wolves and horses. If you get rejected your body registers that as pain bc rejection would mean that you weren't needed in the tribe and they would likely kick you out for being useless, ending up in death. There's a reason social isolation is the worst torture, being alone means sure death in the wild for most of our history.

Because we are social animals that couldn't survive without group or were killed on spot for trying to destroy the structure/members of the group.

High IQ. Although as we all know behaviour can't change our fate that much. Personality is a meme and we are too ugly to make anyone feel compassion for us.
It's over.
