Imagine you've been a NEET since high school, and you finally decide to sell your soul to ZOG and apply for some jobs. You send them your resume but unfortunately you can't explain the gaps in employment history that you spent watching japanese cartoons and playing vidya. Of course no place would want to hire you, except for maybe some shit warehouse jobs.
This is basically what would happen if, after years of rotting on .is and not doing normie shit, you decided to try and make friends and talk to girls. Just like how the qualifications on your resume are judged based on the current labor market, social media provides a platform for a sort of "libidinal economy". Instead of money, the currency of social media is likes and followers. But currency is just an abstract representation of value in the economy, it has no value in itself. What's really being exchanged in the libidinal economy is desire. The libidinal economy is a machine that captures desire and regulates it, determining where it is directed. I will give you an example. When a foid posts her bikini pictures on instagram, they aren't doing it for their own sake. The object in their mind is always the people who will see it, and how they will receive it. On social media, this takes the form of accumulating likes and followers. In this way, you see that our desires aren't purely personal phenomenon, but rather they are intimately related to larger social forces.
These days, everyone is so connected, it ironically has an effect of atomizing us as individuals. You go out into the city and see thousands of people in an hour. You scroll through social media and interact with millions of people around the world. This has an effect of splintering desires. We are exposed to so much, that it provides a barrier to commitment to any one person (the reason why foids who aren't virgins are completely unfit for love). A job posting can easily receive hundreds of applicants. It's not practical to give every applicant the time they deserve. Recruiters on average spend 3 seconds looking at your resume before deciding whether to keep looking or throw you in the trash and move on to the next one. Likewise, in social contexts you are reduced to a commodified image, which often take the form of social media profiles or dating app pages. This is why looks are so powerful in today's dating market. You really aren't given enough time to truly form a relationship with someone and allow them to see the full extent of your personality (JFL for personality incels). You get 3 seconds in which your looks are assessed, before they determine whether to keep going with you or move on to the next one.
This is my main problem with social media and why I refuse to use it, even if it contributes to my alienation and isolation. Capitalism depends on the manipulation and exploitation of desire in the libidinal economy for profit. It reduces desire to just a form of consumption, and represses desire that could potentially disrupt the regulated flow. It is inherently anti life because it is diametrically opposed to the free flow and expression of desire, instead commodifying and objectifying human life. In other words: conform or be cast out. Your physical appearance, life history, and social life are all judged based on this valuation. Your status is directly tied to your propensity to consume. Buy expensive shit you don't need. Do normie shit like travel and go to parties. Looksmax. You are just turning yourself into a commodity. I have too much self respect to let myself become that.
