Yes, I suppose that is true. The worst criminals and terrorists are denied social contact and given no time with other people. The famous drug lord El Chapo and the Boston Bomber terrorist are both recieving this punishment. They stay in a blank, featureless cell at the Colorado Supermax Prison (the most high-level prison in the United States) with hardly anything to do or look at, like the one in the picture I posted here. They only get 1 hour a day to be outside, and the rest is spent in this cell. I suppose we at least have some of our copes to enjoy, but you are correct in that social isolation has been scientifically proven to be extremely damaging to a person's mental, emotional, and even physical health.
