Back then, in order to get access to the internet you had to use a PC. Normies barely use computers compared to us. However, being the perfect zombie cattle that normies are, they use phones 24/7.

When smartphones became popular, each phone had apps that gave much easier access to either Google, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, etc. I highly doubt that my normie parents would be using stuff such as Google, Youtube or any other site without a smartphone on their hand. Even most shit apps such as Tik Tok or Insta require a smartphone in order to film yourself doing God knows what.

If we were to somehow magically destroy any smartphone and we were to return back to push-button phones, there will be a massive decrease of normie and foid activity. In theory at least.

I think you're mostly correct. IMHO the "wild west" era of the internet ended even earlier, when MySpace (the first soycial network to go mainstream) got popular around 2004. Smartphones were just the final nail in the coffin.

Yes, there will still be some form of normie activity even when, in theory, smartphones were to disappear, but only in a small number. Let's be honest here, normcattle don't have the time to use a PC 24/7. They have other stuff to do like wageslaving all day, teen normfags hanging out with other normcattle while looking for foids and the foids themselves being foids doing whatever whore shit they do in public.

Those sites you mentioned served the purpose of only containing these groups of "people", but now that there's a big number of them on the internet, they're practically everywhere.
