I know a guy in my Uni who is a literal child prodigy. 4.0 GPA, published papers, knows the answer to literally everything, has tons of work and research experience. I was shocked today talking to him. He was rejected from a top internship. Asked him why, he said the interviewer laughed at him saying he's ugly and she doesn't want to have to look at him everyday.

The guy who got the internship? Guy with a 2.7 GPA. Never in class. Really dumb. Never does his assigned work on group projects. But he's tall, white, and has a good face. 7/10 PSL.

Assuming it's a tech internship at a "top" company --

1. No company is legally permitted to discuss and disclose the reason for a recruitment outcome.
2. In a top tech internship (big 4: google, ms, apple, amazon) you need to compete with top of the top students from all over the world, even candidates from places like Harvard and MIT.
3. Even assuming that company is discussing the reason for an interview outcome (by bypassing the law), if the company mentions the candidate has been rejected because of any reason that is not relevant to the role, the candidate can sue the fuck out of them.
