I heard a Black woman refer to her own kids as "skids." I think this reflects how she views children of her own race. I think it's related to how Skid Row, named after the skid marks due to the homeless that populate it don't wipe after pooping. In another sense, I think when they occur to women, they can be what Daoko referred to a "lover's suicide" which is a figurative suicide where women down to the level of some men or lower. It's women at the lowest that give men a sense of romantic security. Without these women, they'd feel there's no hope.
