I am starting to get fat and according a BMI calculator I am overweight this is because of my meds should I stop taking them?

You are better off managing your weight unless the side effects are too severe.

I stopped taking a certain anti-psychotic after I developed visual "scotomas" and severe headaches.

I wouldn't recommend it depending your circumstances. It's better to just restrict calories/exercise more. If you do, talk to a doctor first because the withdrawals could be unpleasant. I get brain zaps after missing 2-3 doses of ssris
