I personally have a boerboel. They eat a lot but their the best companion, especially on walks, foids, thugs and people in general are scared to even come close to me even though she's the sweetest dog ever dachshunds are cute but they will get cucked by pitbulls roaming the streets(depends on where you live), there are a lot of dogs(especially pitbulls that roam the streets, and your dog may be their next victim
