IMO no. 8 giga of ram is dreadful and you'll have problems even running stuff like Microsoft Excel plugins. If you're American, Costco has good deals on laptops and you don't have to be a member to buy some of them
Those 500 Dollars you're spending on the laptop will be 5-10x slower than if you'd bought an desktop computer for the same price

build a desktop, laptops never get the same performance as a desktop for the same price.
Acer laptops were really bad like 15 years ago unsure if they improved or not. But the bad reputation remains.
