The teacher—Abby Zwenner—that was shot by a 6 years old was awarded $10 millions in damages after a jury found the then assistant principal—Ebony Parker—acted with of gross negligence.
Parker ignored multiple warning that the kid in question had brought a gun to the school and did not let staff search him.
Parker also faces eight felony child abuse with disregard for life—one per bullet in the gun—linked to the shooting. Her trial begins this month.
The boy wasn't charged but her mother, Deja Taylor, was sentenced to nearly four years in prison for felony child neglect and federal weapons charges.
