Scared to play Soulslike games. Don't laugh.

On most video games, I can only complete them on the easy or normal setting. The hard is just too much.

Should I attempt a Soulslike, such as Bloodborne or Elden Ring, or will it be over before it even begins?

go for it use cheats if necessary in the end they’re all just games

You're fine brother.

Gaming is about smashing elves and bandits over the head with a Warhammer, and laughing while I do it.

I feel absolutely zero shame about playing my favorite games on "normal" difficulty. I log onto my gaming rig to have fun, not to impress little gamer faggots with my prowess or win their approval.

If I wanted a hard time, with grueling IQ challenges and extreme time pressure, I'd go to work.

They’re easy. Dark Souls being hard started out as a meme because zoomers lacked patience, and had become way too accustomed to every modern game holding their hands.

Literally just focus on the attack build ups every time you fight a boss and dodge at the exact last moment while trying to find that sweet window of breather, and basically just cheese your way through every trash mob encounter there is in the game. That’s the entirety of Dark Souls.

Also, there’s zero shame in liking easy games. 99% of those who git gud you are incredibly shit at every videogame they play. Hardcore Dark Souls players have the illusion of being good “gamers,” just like how they have the illusion that their favorite game of all is the best thing since sliced bread. Overall, I’d say they’re pretty deluded people, unfortunately.

Ended up breezing through elden ring without playing a soulsborne in my life, though I have played deepwoken which is a roblox 'souls like' game. The most important thing I learnt from playing that game is to just stay calm

thanks, interesting replies

playing a game on expert mode doesn't matter, nowadays no one cares and often puts you away from the enjoyment, unless you enjoy dying over and over to achieve that goal, which few people have.

Start with Dark Souls 1, Bloodborne and DS3/ER are adhd simulators where only reflexes and upgraded gear matter not the patience like with DS1 or Demon's souls. Elden Ring is the worst game in the series but also the easiest since how easy is to overlevel anything in a game except a few bosses that are just straight up anime bullshit (dlc is total trash plus so don't bother with it, it's even more procedurally generated than the OG game)

Just watch a “OP early build” video and you’ll be fine. These games aren’t hard you just need to learn what to do

deepwoken

>souls like

I'm also too bad and old to play soulslikes. I just play other games, there are enough of them.

Ds1 is the easiest from my experience and the compiled opinions of others.
Enemies have predictable attack patterns, while in the later games they become ferocious and it's more about reading animations.

ok here is a guide on souls game they are not scary and play elder ring if you want a challnge and when you build a character do not pick the subhuman that start off with the wrost gear and explore the world and get stronger if you face a hard boss or play bloodborne which normie love since it was not that hard just dont pick subhman class or dark soul 2 if have what it takes to calll your self hardcore just dont pick the deprived class

Most games are designed with Normal difficulty in mind there are few exceptions like Doom that was designed with Ultra Violence in mind as a default difficulty, while 95% of the other games like Shitcher 3 with higher difficulties will only inflate hp and dmg of the monsters and make game even more boring and tedious (i had to put it on easy to breeze through awful fights). Halo on above normal feels better due enemies having better ai but on legendary (and with pointless skulls) they will play too perfectly like in DB Sparkling Zero those devs put ultra hard as a normal difficulty on the story mode around some fights :society:

who cares about the mode? I always start on the easiest, it's about experiencing the story and such

if you end up liking the gameplay enough to replay it then yeah ratchet up the difficulty and do it again
