Its not 'unattractive people'. Just 'unattractive men'. It was perfectly acceptable for all the over-the-hill moms, sub-5s and bluehaired feminists to express their preference for shitty romance novels like Twilight and Shades of Grey. They weren't shamed for it.

What's more insidious about this is this isn't merely a social problem but an internalized one.
