Looks like the image quality is suffering from all the new additions and iterations. One way to do it would be to isolate the avatar images as PNGs, no backgrounds, and add them all in manually to a background. That way, you can also scale shit manually, and the quality would remain high. Lot of work though.
A lighter background may also work better for people with dark avis? Anyway, just some thoughts. Cool idea man.
