Remember the 2016-2017 era of alt-right influencers?

People like Milo Yiaonpoulos, Lauren Southern, Ben Shapiro, Ben Garrison, Stefan Molyneux, etc. They had a lot of following on social media and were always going to give conferences at campuses, almost always clashes between antifa and proud boys or similar groups at those meetings because the first like always try to sabotage everything they don't like in the name of democracy or tolerance kek. I remember people spamming the Pepe the frog meme everywhere AKA "the great meme war" or when 4chan autists stole Shia Labeouf's "he will not divide us" flag in the middle of the desert, those were 2 interesting years and many people became obsessed with politics and more polarized so we can blame that election for the current political climate where everything is offensive, everyone must be cancelled and you must always side with BLM and LGBT or you're a fascist. Even if I was still a child and a pre-teen, I remember the 2008 and 2012 US elections and no way they were the same as 2016. Everything was more relaxed and chill and people were less extreme. When Trump won the 2016 election people didn't shut up about it for like 2 weeks even in my country Spain.

Funny because now almost all of those influencers are either retired from social media or they said "I changed my point of view and I'm ashamed of what I did in the past" kek, basically they saw a gold opportunity, made money off simps (in the case of Lauren Southern) or deluded MAGAtards who showered their influencers with donations because they said "based" and "redpilled" stuff before those terms even existed. I don't blame them tbh. If I was a low inhib normie and I could make money by giving conferences or streams saying what people want to hear, I would have done the same.

I remember this era and I always hated it due to the fact that politics have been mainstreamed into popular culture.

Even though I was an "alt-right" back in those days, I never found any of those guys to be interesting. I liked the Meme War, though, and I participated in it quite a bit through the Instagram side. I do find a few "alt-right" streamers to be interesting and downright hilarious, such as Baked Alaska, because of their political incorrectness and downright low inhibition, despite not currently adopting their ideology.

That's not what did me down the "pipeline" back then though, it was the insufferable feminists and progressives who just said the stupidest shit and were massive hypocrites. I would see them everywhere, even when I didn't want to. I still think those "people" are equally as retarded as I thought they were back then, but nowadays, I won't double down by adopting an equally hypocritical ideology.

What did me out of the "pipeline" was the amount of equally stupid people I met in "alt-right" circles, though I am still friends to this day with some of them who are cool with me, some who have taken a similar path as me, too. Some of my other "alt-right" "friends" that I talked to through Instagram would always call me ugly and a mutt. One in particular who I can remember was this literal obese Mexican with bad acne, literally a PSL 1, who identified as a Spanish Falangist, who constantly bragged about getting girls to me, which was of course bullshit, and he would constantly shit on my appearance. Not to mention, at this time, I adopted white identitarianism even though I am Middle Eastern, and those people hate Middle Easterners. I was pretty much cucking myself. Not to mention, the folks in my circles back then were always fighting about who was white and who wasn't.

Once I realized all of this and my distaste for authority, my beliefs changed drastically. According to the media, though, I am still technically "alt-right."
