According to an affidavit for probable cause filed Dec. 9 in Allen Superior Court, 26-year-old Cassie L. Snay is charged with two counts of bestiality. The alleged incidents occurred between Jan. 17, 2024, and Oct. 10, 2024, in Allen County.
The investigation began Dec. 13, 2024, when the Wells County Sheriff’s Office opened a case on Trey Allan Mettler for failing to register as a sex offender, the affidavit states. Mettler was arrested Jan. 6, 2025. During that arrest, deputies executed a search warrant on his vehicle and seized an Apple iPhone 14 and a flip phone.
A judge later approved search warrants for a forensic download of the phones, which were analyzed by the Allen County High Tech Crime Unit. Detective Quinton Greer with the Wells County Sheriff’s Office, a sex-crimes investigator with more than 11 years of experience, reviewed the iPhone data beginning March 3, 2025, according to the filing.
Investigators say the download contained multiple social media accounts, roughly 69,000 images and 11,000 videos, including suspected child sexual abuse material. While reviewing the material, Greer reported finding multiple photos and videos of Mettler and Snay. He recognized Snay from prior police contacts and knew her to be in an on-again, off-again relationship with Mettler, the affidavit says.
Among the recovered files were several photos and videos, dated between January and October 2024, that allegedly show Snay engaged in sexual activity with a black-and-tan dog. At least one video was recorded at the Motel 6 at 3003 W. Coliseum Blvd. in Fort Wayne, according to the affidavit. Detectives say other incidents happened at a residence in Fort Wayne that Snay identified as her mother’s home.
On Sept. 19, 2025, Greer interviewed Snay after advising her of her Miranda rights. During that interview, investigators say Snay admitted to the conduct described in the affidavit and to creating and sending the photos and videos to Mettler, investigators wrote. She told detectives the dog in question was her K-9 “Kota” and said a second dog, “Klaus,” appeared in some images but was not involved in the sexual acts, according to court documents.
Based on the investigation, a judge found probable cause on Dec. 10, 2025, and issued a warrant for Snay’s arrest in case number 02D05-2512-F6-001807.
Bestiality is a Level 6 felony in Indiana. A conviction carries a possible sentence of six months to 2½ years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.
Court records did not immediately list an initial hearing date or an attorney for Snay. All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
