Not that I’m a huge fan of the franchise but with a Red Dead Redemption Remastered on the horizon (it’s pretty much confirmed by now), I figured what best time to ask the one and only ultimate question, which one did you have the most fun with?

Personally, I’d have to side with RDR1. RDR2, however marvelous it might’ve felt when playing for the first time, it’s a much less gamey game than RDR1 if that makes any sense. After a while, it felt like an actual chore to go through it and I think that’s what happens when the devs put more emphasis on realism than core gameplay mechanics being the main aspects of a videogame that help to give it a sense of longevity and replayability. Seriously, I can’t imagine anyone being insane enough to play RDR2 for a second time.

RDR1 is basically just more fluid and forgiving than RDR2 but generally speaking, Rockstar doesn’t give a single fuck about implementing a genuinely fun gameplay with responsive controls, they just want to give you a relatively realistic amusement park with a story to tell.

RDR1 mogged imo but of course, normies don’t care about any of this. They see RDR2 as the prettier game with more things to do in it and so naturally, they instantly perceive it as the objectively better game too.

isnt RDR2 full of propaganda too?

RDR2 feels way less clunkier with KBM and higher framerates on PC, but other than that I don't disagree with your post.
Donations at the camp are a good example of an attempt at immersion with no underlying gameplay depth. I would like it way more if the money you gave actually changed the storyline a bit. If a gang does good then they should be less desperate and stop trying to do dumb things.

No way I’ll ever have a computer that can even run it at a stable 30.

There’s a lot of immersion-breaking shit you do in that game that means absolutely nothing and yields no real consequences. Like every other decision based game, it all boils down to just two slightly different endings and I get that the game wants you to “feel” the contrast between honor and dishonor but the ludonarrative dissonance of it completely butchers everything the game is trying to tell.

You can’t let me play as a character that mercilessly kills thousands and thousands of people in the name of protecting his tribe and then try to cosmetically portray him as the good guy and expect me to sympathize with him. It’s the exact same issue I had with the Tomb Raider and Uncharted series.

And all of this gang banging cowboy shit felt incredibly boring anyway, and that’s to a point that I genuinely had more fun in the epilogue with John trying to build his house and teach his son fishing. It felt like the game FINALLY learned how to shut the fuck up for once but it was too late. It’s insane how RDR1 felt like it never suffered from any of these minor inconsistencies.

Ehh. I played it a while ago, can’t remember anything. Bear in mind, Rockstar made games that are now considered as borderline “misogynistic” :foidSoy: and vile by 2023’s standards so it’s not surprising that they might shy away from satire and go full woke.

You literally have to protect a bunch of feminists in one mission kek. They also mock some guy for being incel in one scene iirc

what a cucked ass mission to put in a game, i hope the protagonist was falsely accused of rape (in videogame)

I prefer the story of RD1

One of the OG founders of the GTA Games left rockstar games because they hired a bunch of liberal faggots now

I want to play rdr1 but I need an emulator on pc to play it.

Rdr 1 story was amazing but rdr 2 online is amazing to
