Taxi Driver is an aesthetic masterpiece in my eyes. Nothing beats the psychological verisimilitude of that film. Its essentially a perfect depiction of an isolated modern man. I could go deeper but I don't feel like it. A Clockwork Orange is also goated.

I recently reread it a few months ago and I will say that lots of people in this community can relate to the feelings of alienation discussed in the novel. Also, he was a virgin throughout the entire novel. I would say he’s more of a mentalcel. He scared away the Sally Hayes girl as he saw her as superficial and a dumb bimbo. His oneitis, Jane Gallagher, had sex with his roommate in the second chapter and causes him to leave Pencey Prep.
I’ve rewatched Taxi Driver dozens of times. It’s a true masterpiece. My favorite scene is when he’s watching the couples dancing on the TV while Late for the Sky plays.
