every living thing operates over genetics
, dna a chain of proteins that determines everything about us: looks, height, hair and eye color, metabolism, iq, and etc..
dna also determines psychological aspects: thinking, reproduction strategies, and etc..
dna goes hand in hand with evolution, evolution's main goal for each entity is reproduction, because the more the entity reproduces the more frequent that dna is found in a group of entities, while the entities that didnt care enough or were incapable of reproduction, didnt show up as much in later generations.
so the main goal of evolution is reproduction, and evolution will shape the dna to maximize reproduction of that entity.
in a fictional illogical scenario, lets assume that if a human reaches the age of 25 years and dies, 4 other humans with similar dna to him will be born, and lets say the average person makes a single child in his lifetime, after enough generations, people's dna will work against them trying to kill them at the age 25, as the main goal is the 4 children, rather than the humans life, as he would get a single child, but if humans were to get 6 children on average, then the situation will reverse.
going back to why women are smaller than men:
1. men used to do the hunting.
2. men used to go to wars.
3. men had to defend.
4. men had to compete for mating.
but why not make both women and men physically big:
1. maintaining a physically bigger body requires more energy, which was scarce in those days.
2. women will be forced to be with or around a man for protection which increases her chance of reproduction.
3. if a woman was too selective and didnt chose a man yet, then her being physically smaller will make it easier for a man to unconsentually mate with her, which makes her reproduce, so dna made the woman physically smaller to increase her chances of reproduction.
