I've been playing RE1 remake for the first time. I've played the original before, but I haven't beaten the remake. What's surprising to me about the remake is how much scarier it is than the later entries (even RE7) due to the Crimson Heads. The Crimson Heads are not scripted and almost every zombie you kill can become one. You can't just burn all the zombies either because your fuel supplies are limited. This makes the game extremely tense. You never know when you're going to encounter one.
And if you do encounter one and don't have shotgun amo, you can get raped. Even if you survive, there's a good chance your amo reserves are going to be emptied leaving you vulnerable.
If only newer Resident Evil games would introduce some form of RNG based enemy like this. Sure, the antics we saw in 7 were scary the first time, but on playthroughs they lose their kick. The Crimson Heads are terrifying because you don't know when they might strike.
Also, Jill's jiggle physics are just right....
