Dark chocolate is king and milk chocolate is ok, in moderation.
The chips are bad. You need animal fats and good protein.

Lidl is currently selling "Perlenbacher Festbier" for 60 cents a can. It goes down like a treat* with a few shots of schnapps. (*Das geht runter wie Öl)
Otherwise, I stocked up on meatballs, sausages, mustard, and bread/rolls, sometimes even chips if I was dining on a park bench.
The pre-packaged sandwiches were actually too expensive for me, and besides, they distributed them at the local homeless shelter.
Hard-boiled Easter eggs were also based. They're not just available at Easter.
