Literally every change that happens that "disrupts" the status quo and makes things "never be the same" has been bad for men.
War? Women gain more rights after each war while men get conscripted to war and die.
Economy crashes? Betabuxxes run out of money and employment opportunities and their wife divorces them while men that were trying to save are hit by low interest rates that make saving money in an account that earns interest not as good an opportunity. Crime increases and that's tougher on single males trying to navigate the world.
Natural disasters and disease outbreaks? Economy suffers, migration and relocation brings more competition for available jobs and a more uncertain future. Crime increases and that's tougher on single males trying to navigate the world.
New technology? Only makes women's lives easier while men have to get used to incorporating the technology in every aspect of their life and their online identity becomes more tied to their real world identity and leaves more a data trail.
2020 wouldn't have been so bad without all the constant threat of war (think the possible escalating situation between the US and Iran in January 2020) and the coronavirus shutting everything down and tanking the economy. Basically if 2020 had continued more along the same path of 2019 instead of getting worse 2020 wouldn't have been so bad.
What's left is more uncertainty, more difficulty in figuring out what's going on, steady employment opportunities and long time industries like malls start disappearing for good and work from home policies ensures you can never catch a break from work.
