I got involved stopping a suicide. I grabbed his arm and he punched me.

I saw the punch coming towards me in slow motion. It hit my cheek and was painful for 3 months.

How can I train my reflexes to dodge punches?

Ambulance (after 40 min wait) took him away and he was sectioned. Seems much better now.

Was horrible to see. You would do the same.

How can I dodge a punch to the face? I saw it coming in slow motion.
I believe when you are faced with stressful situations you begin to experience chronokinesis. You probably haven't been in plenty of fights but I don't think you can dodge punches unless you're a fair distance away from your target. Your best bet is to punch back and block even then they can probably pull a knife and fucking gut you so don't pick a fight with random strangers it will always end badly.

I don't fight. I was trying to help.

I watched the punch getting closer and closer and was thinking I should move my head or something but I just froze.

It hit the cheek bone and hurt for 3 months.

Maybe if I use a tennis ball hanging on a string from the ceiling and let it bounce towards me or something like that. It might improve reflexes.

yeah this sometimes happen when you're in a life threatening situation, I once fell off my bike at a really high speed and saw time move slower. I felt like I was falling forever, that's normal though but improving your reflexes can also help and you should only fight when you are provoked, even then it can be dangerous since anyone has access to kitchen knives. In the meantime, if you're very serious about fighting I recommend gym-maxxing and punching body bags and if you ever face someone wielding a knife or any sharp objects just run the fuck away and don't even think about fighting back anyone who's strapped.

You don't dodge a punch like you see in the movies. That's all choreographed bullshit. A trained fist (or even an untrained one) can move towards you much faster than you can react to physically move your body in time. The idea is to train yourself to be able to take hits and block them effectively.

The reason why you didn't react to that slow punch is because avoiding punches is not something the average person conditioned is to normally expect in your day to day. Also, our brains almost don't believe it's happening right until the moment we feel the hit on our face.

Play fps games, dribble with two basket balls without looking at the ground, join an mma class
I'll try all these things thank you for the suggestions.

I tried the two basket balls and it's a good exercise. I won't know if it works for reflexes until I get punched again but it's definitely doing something that feels like better reflexes. Thank you.

What do you mean by fps games? First person shooter? Does it really build faster physical reflexes?
