Use multiple fingers for picking, it will improve your timing.

Yea i learned classical guitar in high school @Basscel, alternating index and middle on the lower strings and use the thumb on the top one is one easy way to play. Im not sure if using an up/down stroke on the top string with the thumb would be better than alternating index and middle fingers to play the first part would be best.
Ah good to see another basscel here, use two fingers, it's much more efficient that way and less of a strain on your fingers, the cover sounds a bit out of key though, but keep it up, play carry on wayward son next.
Don't forget to mute the string above the one you're playing with your thumb.
