I knew from the very beginning that the Islamic Revolution was a circus. If Khomeini was so dangerous to the West, why was he given political asylum in France, from where he was already preparing a revolution?

He didn't grant him asylum out of good will or anything that had to with Shah's brutality and supporting a regime change in Iran, they couldn't care less about him.

The French probably wanted to set an example that they're the good guys granting any political refugee asylum cus they're so pro free speech and civil liberty. Not because they agreed with Khomenie's political views.
