I personally love data science, web scraping , scripting automation and customizing my GNU Emacs that's why I use Python and Emacs Lisp, what about you

I'm a professional dev.

I work on C++ (unreal), android, asp net, robotics (drone? Etc.

My favorite field is web dev. Most predictable (nondevs don't understand this).

Non devs always demand a time or make up one for you, and web apps are relatively easy to fix due to the synchronized nature.

- only have to account for like 2-3 browsers and maybe one mobile size (no different versions of OS, phone models, screen size, landscape/portrait modes)
- web apps HTML syntax tend to be relatively simple and mature
- web apps generally don't demand too much animation, especially if you work on business/bureaucracy field
- generally sync instead of async, make button work type of thing, async generally tied to web calls
- dependencies are generally easier to handle

Android explicitly demands thread handling, and Google doesn't allow you to freeze the app for more than few seconds by using runOnUiThread(() -> {})

C++ is even more crypto than Android Java with its pointer handling, but the thread handling concept is similar.

C honestly because its just so simple

Not when you have to be a professional dev.

It's easy to say "oh C is so cool!" but not when you're forced to debug in a work environment. It's unpredictable and normies don't appreciate the effort to debug.

Choose the one easiest to debug.

I personally use Python, people can mock me because of its slowness and other stuff, but it's just because I find it adapted to the fields and needs I have. and because I'm consider myself as a newfag programmer, I prefer to use a safe language where I can make less mistakes and more readable code

The error messages are still somewhat readable vs c++ imho

It's a good advice, but you don't choose the language you're forced to work with. In small companies (tech market is competitive), you can be working on C++ one day and Java the another.

There's no shame in using a "easy" language if it serves your purpose; performance isn't that important for most use cases (muh C++ fast elitists).

A slightly slower language won't make something unusable, unless you're working on making a game engine from scratch or something ground breaking.

Most apps are CRUD. Usually the easier to maintain nature of languages like Python outweigh the benefits of raw speed.

Nice, If you had additional knowledge in chemistry, more specifically with nitrates and pentaerythritol tetranitrate you could achieve great things :feelsokman:

One of the worst fields. Low pay, long working hours, and hyper complexitiy (C++ and async)
I don't know if game dev can still be good if you make a games as a hobbies or contribute to an open source game

When you make a game from a hobby, it's one of the worst things because you're dealing with 3d modeling, texturing, sound engineering, level design, UI making, ui design, level design, voice acting, play testing, rigging (oh god), async programming, learning to use the ridiculously complicated tools.

Industry hires people for specialization in one field. Making a game on your own demands mastery of all these.

Trust me, I've done most of these individually.

Before I got into coding I was a 3D modeler main. My brain is just more suitable for backend work.

In programming a lot, very few devs truly love both frontend and backend. Now imagine much wider fields with much more things to learn/do.

aren't webdev or application dev the same but with idk high pay but depressing af?

I tried graphics but realized I'm low IQ as fuck. Mobile dev seems very cushy and simple in comparison

I hate anything related to coding including coders. So beware.

The most ironic thing is that in my ideas, I don't like the Industrial Revolution and so technology, but I code FOSS software only as a hobby to cope

When I had my severe chronic fatigue and headaches, I couldn't even do programming because doing basic things in my life was already hard

I like critical batch processes that handle large amounts of data. I work at a bank and manage critical settlement processes. I have developed many processes that handle a lot of money.

It the only useful thing that i do in my life.
