a common point to deter suicidal people from going through with it is that suicide is "selfish" i.e. basically saying "your mom will be sad dont kys!"

its actually selfish to say suicide is selfish

you are guilt tripping an individual who is suffering so bad that they literally would rather be dead than alive into staying alive only to continue suffering JUST BECAUSE "your family will be sad!" bullshit, if a situation is so bad for a person they mentally think it is the correct choice to take their life, let them go. people dont just kill themselves on a whim (unless youre on drugs or drunk), its usually a thought that is pondered on A LOT by that individual for a long time. id say its the right decision and people shouldnt guilt trip suicidal people into suffering for longer just to please people and not make anyone upset

also it is against human nature to commit suicide for stupid reasons like adversity which as we all know anything that goes against human nature is classified as "mental illness" or something like that
 
You know what's selfish? Having children.
 
You can make the argument that the desire to live is selfish. Hell, you can argue that even human action is self-motivated in order to achieve a self-serving goal.

It's only selfish to the perspective of the family who will be grieving you, because you basically exist as some kind of emotional toy.

Society simply can’t allow suicide to be destigmatized. Can’t run a civilization without people. Suicide is often times a rational choice, but we both know that humans in general aren’t guided by reason but by the will to survive.
 
No one will be grieving me, not even parents. A few remaining friends are busy with their families and fulfilled life.

There are almost 8 billion people in this world and there are many children and young people who die every day. The loss of one person isn't going to make a large impact. You might care if your little brother dies but you wouldn't give a fuck about all the other deaths that is happening right now.

What's even more problematic is that we live in a society where a significant amount of people are so stressed out they want to kill themselves, despite being given everything we need to survive. This is not normal or healthy.

Suicide usually results in becoming a god, but if done ritualisticly, it can turn a person into a pagan god.

To be completely honest, many of us exist purely to be emotional toilets for our relatives, so my philosophy is to let people decide for themselves. If we didn't get a say to be born, we should be able to say when we want to end it.

Maybe having children itself is not selfish but expecting children to serve you and look after you when you're old is selfish. It's not bad when children take care of their parents but you cannot demand that by force or using guilt.
