Jfl it's not about the tax money. It's a paid federal holiday the state loses millions in labor costs on it every year.

But yeah it's a totally arbitrary and stupid holiday. It's not even fully accurate each year. Every 4 years we have a leap year and add a day at the end of February to make up for the timekeeping error.
