People praise today's politicians like Gods. They speculate on what they would do, how they would act, how they would view something etc. Politicians today have so much power over the general population today, these people have faith in the words of politicians. Political discussions are growing in number more and more with social media.
Trust the plan movements, edits of article clips, and the seething that occurs whenever one says what they don't like all feeds into this.
Trump is the main reason why MAGA doesn't collapse. Much of it is driven by his presence. He is also the biggest example of this, though the other American spectrum also tried to paint Joe Biden as a hero. Politicians are not more than people that say things that people like so they get their support.
This also goes hand in hand with a general decline of religiousness, I believe religion is beneficial for a population because it gives them a moral frameset and guidance in decision making, yes moralcucking is annoying, but the politicians of a religious state can only publically act within the boundaries of said religion.
