The people who tend to find the fault in things are the ones that don't benefit in any way from it. I think people gravitate to more hard-leaning stances because they want something solid to relate to. So many causes and people and movements these days tip-toe around any hard-left criticism that it can cause people to have a serious case of abandonment with regards to society. The average person doesn't see any of this since he's happy provided the new episode of Game of Thrones comes out each week and he can have a pint at the local pub every Friday after work...he's kept complacent by short-term hedonistic desires so he's mentality becomes "It doesn't impact my life so I don't care".
