Pokemon company has always been terrible at making games. They couldn't manage to make a fully 3D game on DS. Meanwhile Dragon Quest Monsters looked much better and was more graphically demanding than Pokemon.

On 3DS there games were extremely ugly (saved by cell shading) and lagged like shit. Meanwhile this ran at a good frame rate.
