EVs have a long way to go, if anywhere to go. EVs have so much environmental impact despite the marketing saying otherwise, the amount of lithium used is concerning, it's not "renewable" technology because they have to keep mining a finite amount of the metal, not to mention batteries degrade overtime and need to be disposed of. Constructing the thousands of new EV recharging stations as they desire to transition from petrol to electric will be troublesome. Current EVs lack the max distance capacity as conventional cars, forcing you to spend more money on refuelling it and waiting for it to charge takes a longer time than conventional cars.
I don't trust EVs at the moment, my neighbour's EV blew up and caused the fire brigade and police to block the street for 3 hours late at night, the event caused a scene in our neighbourhood, many people were watching in the distance because they heard the explosion. Our residence almost caught on fire because the car was parked closer to our house than theirs. Thankfully emergency services came in the nick of time otherwise it would be disastrous.
Perhaps in the future as production material is used efficiently, increase in safety, increase in battery lifespan and a reduction in price is seen EVs could be promising, but I don't see it happening at the moment, right now all I see is companies promoting a fake lie (environmental impact) to increase revenue.
