I don't think it's stupidity I think it's a combination of not being used to technology and also as you age your brain can often become less sharp.

It may well have far less of an effect on things like voting.

After all if you compare the 20 year old vote to the 70 year old vote I think you'll see a lot more common sense in the latter.
